THE TWO REALMS

2 Kings 6: 17 – And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

There are two worlds – the natural (physical) and the supernatural (spiritual). We have been so used to the physical realm that we fail to realize that the spiritual realm affects everything in the natural.

In 2 Kings 6: 8 – 23, king of Syria sent a great army that surrounded the city of Dothan with the sole purpose to kill the prophet Elisha. While Gehazi, Elisha’s servant, was fearful because he saw only with his natural eyes, Elisha remained calm because he saw into the spiritual realm with his spiritual eyes. That necessitated the prayer for Gehazi's spiritual eyes to be opened.

Brethren, God’s desire for us is not to be constrained by what we see with our physical eyes alone but to always be moved by what is accessible to us in the spiritual realm. God is doing more for His people than we can ever realize through sight alone. When you face difficulties that seem insurmountable, remember that spiritual resources are there even if you cannot see them (Ephesians 6: 10 – 20). If you do not see God working in your life, the problem may be your spiritual eyesight, and not God’s power (2 Corinthians 4: 16 – 18)
